Transportation

 In News

Hello Parents and Caregivers,

A very happy New Year to you and your family.

While 2020 was incredibly challenging, we are grateful for all the success we had. We took great joy in watching your children develop, grow, and thrive. Thank you for making us part of your family. As always, thank you for trusting us to care for and teach your children.

We are ready and excited to take on 2021. We have so much to look forward to in this new year!

January Theme: Transportation

This month our theme is “Transportation.”

We will explore how people move from place to place using vehicles and other methods of transportation.

Your child will have the opportunity to understand a major part of New York City. Our city’s full diversity is reflected on as we learn about trains, boats, cars, airplanes, buses, specialty vehicles, and more.

Home Activity

Red Light, Green Light

We’ll be playing red light, green light at school, and you can too at home.

Ask your child what a green light means and what a red light means. Tell them you are going to practice following traffic lights.

Have your child dance or move when you say “green light” and stop when you say “red light.” You can even make a sign with “GO” in green on one side and “STOP” in red on the other.

Snack Time

Edible Transportation

Here are a few fun snacks to make at home about transportation!

Fruit Boats: Use fruit to make boats. Use a banana for the boat, cherries for windows, and apple slices for the sails.

Vegetable Trucks: Use vegetables to make trucks. Use a celery stalk for the body of the truck and cherry tomatoes or carrot rounds for wheels.

Traffic Lights: Use foods to make a traffic light. Use a rectangular cracker, cover with cream cheese, add a strawberry slice, apricot half, and kiwi slice to create a traffic light snack.
