Hello Parents and Caregivers,

Happy Spring!

We are so thrilled that the sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, and it’s warm enough for lots of outdoor play.

As plants grow all around us, this season reminds us of how lucky we are that we are part of your child’s most formative growing years.

Thank you for letting us be such a big part of your lives.

May Theme: More

This month, we are learning about the word “more.” We will explore the concept of more by comparing the number of objects and identifying which is more and less. You can do this at home and use toys, bright and fun things, fruits, and vegetables.

Here are some books you can take out from the library to reinforce our month theme:

I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More, by Karen Beaumont

Bear Wants More, by Karma Wilson

One More Acorn, by Don Freeman

More Fun With Maisley!, by Lucy Cousins

More Spaghetti I Say!, by Rita Gorman Gelman

What’s Coming Up

May 13, Eid Al-Fitr, schools closed

May 31, Memorial Day, schools closed

Music Time

The More We Get Together

The more we get together
Together, together
The more we get together
The happier we’ll be

‘Cause your friends are my friends
And my friends are your friends
The more we get together
The happier we’ll be

Oh, the more we get together
Together, together
The more we get together
The happier we’ll be

Home Activity

Spring Community Walk

Throughout New York City, there are opportunities to explore parks, neighborhood gardens, botanical gardens, florist shops, or gardening stores. Go on a community walk, and encourage your child to note what plants they see on the walk. Consider bringing a clipboard, paper, and writing utensil on the walk to record their observations to talk about through the month.

Snack Time

Fruit and Veggie Taste Test

Spring is the perfect time to introduce new fruits and vegetables. Have your child sample various fruits and vegetables, and create a chart to record their favorites.
